   This Japanese Suehiro "Splex" Waterstone - 1000 Grit is for sharpening carving tools, knives, planes, & kitchen knives, etc. This medium grit waterstone is good for after the first round of sharpening on a different coarser stone, then it is best to move to a finer grit waterstone afterwards. See here for the coarser "Splex" 800 grit waterstone & see here for the finer "Splex" 1200 grit waterstone. Use water only for lubrication.  Made in Japan.
