   This Japanese Suehiro "Splex" Waterstone - 800 Grit is for sharpening carving tools, knives, planes, & kitchen knives, etc. This coarser grit waterstone is best for the first round of sharpening, then moving to finer grit waterstones afterwards. See here for the "Splex" 1000 grit waterstone & see here for the "Splex" 1200 grit waterstone. Use water only for lubrication.  Made in Japan.
